This course is designed to teach the fundamentals of weight training, including equipment use, exercise techniques, and safety procedures. By the end of the course, students should be able to safely demonstrate a variety of exercise techniques, as well as have a general appreciation for the benefits of strength training. This course will utilize class discussions, class assignments, and student participation to enable students to: (1) Understand basic components of health-related physical fitness such as muscular strength and endurance, power, and flexibility (2) Develop physical fitness and motor skills, and (3) Gain knowledge on how to develop a safe training program, contributing to a healthy active lifestyle.
