Continuation of VIETLANG 3. This course is the first in a three-quarter sequence and integrates language and culture with an emphasis on developing proficiency in oral and written discourse. Targeted functional abilities include presentational and socio-culturally appropriate language in formal and informal contexts. A service-learning component introduces students to applying their developing Vietnamese language skills in guided, meaningful interactions with the local Vietnamese-speaking community through structured community visits and guest speakers. Prerequisite: VIETLANG 3 or by placement test. This course is certified as a Cardinal Course by the Haas Center.
