What is funny about a "bro-mitzvah"? Why have Black and Jewish histories been so often compared and so often weaponized? Through investigations of the conflicts and connections built among American Blacks and Jews, students will develop a vocabulary for talking about how people are categorized, how trust has been established or fractured across communities and cultures, and the limits of intersectionality. "Black, White, Jewish" explores race, ethnicity, and Americanness through the fantasies these groups perform on television, in film, and other media.
