This course provides a conceptual and practical framework for incorporating sustainable principles into the design process for theater and film. Through research into current practices, discussions with leaders in the field, and explorations of shifting trends in the industry, students will develop an understanding of the environmental, economic, and social impacts of design choices. Students will design eco-conscious scenery that centers sustainability throughout the process - from initial design concepts and material sourcing to construction, performance, and end-of-life disposal or repurposing.
