DESCRIPTION: Offers inpatient and outpatient experience in the management of a variety of acute and chronic diseases of the kidney, including patients recieving acute or chronic dialysis and renal transplant. Additional exposure is gained through consultations on pediatric patients with renal, hypertensive, and complex fluid and electrolyte complications of other diseases. Emphasis is on teaching clinical-pathological correlations and pathophysiology as they relate to the diagnosis and treatment of renal disease. Also emphasized are problems experienced by patients and their parents in adjusting to chronic renal disease.
