Small-group conversation is where much of math learning happens, especially for multilingual students drawing on their full linguistic repertoires. This project-based course introduces collaborative learning analytics through hands-on work with MathOutLoud, a new corpus of small-group math talk from grades 2-EDUC 10. Each week pairs theoretical readings with computational labs focusing on text and multimodal analysis using mixed methods (manual coding, LLMs, feature extraction). Students build an original analytics project and present it to invited teachers and researchers.
