This seminar delves beneath media headlines to explore today's challenges and opportunities for higher education leaders at four-year and two-year institutions, public and private. We will discuss first-person accounts from higher ed leaders, case studies, published scholarship, and media coverage to think through visions and mission, values-based decision-making, crisis management, budgets and governance, technology and the future of education, academic freedom, and more. Along the way, students will reflect on their own leadership aspirations, skills, and values. Graduate students in every discipline interested in becoming faculty members or administrators at universities or colleges-or leaders elsewhere in the public sector-are encouraged to join us.
