The Science of Community Engagement in Health Research course will focus on how community engagement principles enhance diverse health research and help address health disparities. Students will learn key history, frameworks, methodologies, and evaluation tools, including CBPR and strategies across the translational spectrum. The course offers practical experience developing engagement plans, examines real-world challenges and benefits of community partnerships, and includes lectures, presentations, discussions, and group activities. Designed for students across clinical, community health, policy, epidemiology, prevention, and environmental health fields, it emphasizes interdisciplinary and innovative community-engaged research. This course has been designated as a Cardinal Course by the Haas Center for Public Service. Cardinal Courses apply classroom knowledge to social and environmental challenges through reciprocal community partnerships.
