Lighting makes stories, places, and images come alive! Color, intensity, and angles of light deeply influence our perceptions and guide our emotional understanding of our world. This course will touch on all aspects of the process of lighting for live performance, from conceptual practice to the practical execution of creating small-scale lighting designs in the Light Lab. We will explore how to effectively communicate lighting ideas by gathering research and discussing the ways in which light impacts our lives. We'll study various facets of live performance, including theatre, dance, and music to investigate how lighting can be in conversation with every performing arts discipline.
