Embodied Anatomy: Anatomy in Motion (SURG 161)

UNITS:1-3
GRADING:Medical Option (Med-Ltr-CR/NC)
LEVEL:Graduate
GER:—

Embodied anatomy is an approach that integrates anatomical knowledge with felt experience, inviting learners to understand the body not only as a biological structure but as a dynamic system shaped by sensation, movement, and emotion. This interdisciplinary course merges macroscopic anatomical study with somatic and movement-based practices to explore how structures of the human body support, shape, and express intention in motion. Through the study of cadaveric specimens, movement analysis, and embodied practice, students will develop anatomical literacy and kinesthetic awareness, gaining tools to understand human function and cultivate sustainable movement across a range of physical contexts. No prior experience in anatomy or movement practice is required!
