This course takes as its theme detective fiction and how it has expanded with empowering results to genders, ethnicities, and social backgrounds considering, for example, the Botswanan women sleuths of <i>The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency</i>, the hoodie-wearing, super strong <i>Luke Cage</i>, and Japanese manga's Detective Conan.
