This course covers foundational ideas in geometry and topology, including curvature and homology, with a view towards applications: mathematical definitions and theorems will be illustrated, to a large extent, through numerical and computational methods. In particular, topological tools for shape and pattern recognition from high dimensional data sets will be introduced.
