This course will focus on the search for planets around other stars and what we can learn about them through observational and modeling studies. You will learn the fundamentals of how exoplanets are detected and how their atmospheres are characterized. You will also learn about the properties of a few individual planets as well as the properties of the population of planets that have been detected so far. Undergraduate students should enroll in EPS 196 or AA 133 for 3 units. Graduate students should enroll in EPS 296 or AA 233 for 4 units. Undergraduate students wanting to enroll in the EPS 200 level course should reach out to the instructor prior to enrollment. EPS 200-level only: A one-hour weekly section will be arranged and scheduling will be determined at the start of the quarter.
