Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention

This graduate-level course provides an introduction to cancer epidemiology, focusing on the distribution, determinants, and prevention strategies of cancer. Students will learn key epidemiological methods, including study design and data interpretation related to cancer incidence and mortality. The course examines biological, environmental, and behavioral risk factors contributing to cancer burden across populations. Emphasis is placed on critically evaluating scientific literature, public health data, and engaging in debates on current cancer topics. Additionally, students will explore preventive strategies, including screening, vaccination, and lifestyle modifications. Student evaluation is based on a brief presentation and a paper on the epidemiology of a selected cancer, and participation in class discussions.
