For some developing countries, industrial development and international trade have brought about rapid growth and a reduction in poverty. For others, globalzation has simply increased inequality and brought little growth. In many countries, firms remain small scale and have not been integrated into global supply chains. This course will draw on both theoretical models and empirical evidence to better understand the reasons for these very different experiences and implications for policy.
