This series of five workshops is required of every Earth Systems student in preparation for their internship. These workshops are to be completed in the year leading up to the internship, and will be offered Winter quarter for the first 5 weeks. During these workshops, students will explore the how, why, when, and what involved in the internship search. The theory is to dream big, plan early, and get ready for their internships. Students will be exposed to many, many internship opportunities in every sector, from the private sector, nonprofit and non-governmental, public sector/government, philanthropy, international organizations, and the UN system. Students will prepare professional documents such as resumes and cover letters. They will also practice interviewing and create an elevator pitch. In addition they will explore effective networking techniques and leadership strategies to be prepared to find the internship that suits each student best and be ready to be the best intern possible.
