This exploration of dance across cultures and communities will consist of weekly workshops, taught by peer choreographers from the Stanford dance clubs. Built on the idea of community as a creative, global engine, students will gain access to a wide variety of dance styles, not currently offered in TAPS, such as: African, Asian, Latin X & South Asian Diasporic Forms, Heels, Freestyle; and Jazz. Through cross-cultural movement exchange and dialogue facilitated by the instructor, students will have the opportunity to experiment and innovate. No previous knowledge or experience is necessary, as each participant can enter with their own background, curiosity, and way of moving. All levels are invited to participate, including beginners. Join us on a treasure hunt of movement through shared exploration, cyphers, phrase learning, and new choreographies for and from the Stanford Dance Community!
