Required for all student mentors in the Center for Teaching and Learning's (CTL) STEM Peer Learning Support program, this training equips mentors with essential skills such to foster an inclusive and equitable learning environment and support students with diverse STEM backgrounds and perspectives. Each mentor will host at least one CTL 80-minute mentor section each week, leading students through guided discussions, activities, and reflections designed to normalize challenging experiences within a college science course, build key study skills such as how to effectively review lecture notes and problem sets, prepare for and reflect on exams, and develop a consistent problem solving process that will build student confidence over the quarter.
