Other Islamic arts, such as architecture, metal work, ceramics, glass, and textiles, draw on calligraphy as their principal source of embellishment. This interactive lecture-workshop traces Arabic calligraphy's development and illustrates the various types of calligraphic styles in use today. Prerequisite: Knowledge of Arabic writing and reading required. May be repeated 3 times for credit.
